How we hire

Basically, we want to learn your story and get a sense of what you’re capable of. The interview process at CollegeVine varies based on role and candidate, but our standard process looks like this:

Step 1

Make yourself known

We generally prefer to source for our jobs on LinkedIn or via referral, so if you don’t see any public postings, that’s completely normal. You can always fill out our “future teammate” job listing, answer three short questions (under 250 characters), and we promise you’ll get a response—usually from our CEO, COO, or CTO.

Step 2

Exploratory chat

Based on whether your interests are in Engineering, Go-to-Market (GTM), or Operations, you’ll have a chat with one of our leaders to discuss your career interests and relevant experience, and learn more about CollegeVine.

Step 3

Skills assessment

  • For technical roles, you'll participate in a one-hour technical screening interview.
  • For GTM or Operations roles, we ask candidates to complete a take-home assignment. These typically involve crafting thoughtful responses to role-specific questions and might include some external research. Expect assignments to take 2-5 hours, depending on the scope of the role.
  • We believe this approach helps us make unbiased, well-informed hiring decisions. Reviewing a candidate’s work lets us see how they'd approach real challenges, while also giving candidates insight into what working at CollegeVine would feel like. If a candidate enjoys the process, it’s often a good sign of reciprocal fit.
  • While we know these assignments require time and effort, and they can’t fully capture the realities of the role, we see them as a valuable complement to interviews and reference checks.
Step 4

Career walkthrough

You’ll have a two-hour conversation with one of our executives, walking through your entire career history. If you've listened to long-form podcast interviews before, then you'll know exactly what this feels like. Many candidates describe this as one of the most rewarding interviews they’ve ever had.

Step 5

Meet the team

You'll have a conversation with various team members relevant to your role.

  • Each conversation will be assigned a theme with questions reflecting particular skills or aptitudes relevant to the theme
  • You will meet 3-4 additional team members at this point
Step 6

Final checks

We’ll ask for some references, and you’ll get to meet at least one more member of our leadership team if you haven’t already.

Step 7

Offer

We’ll make you an unbeatable offer.

Technical interviews

Our technical interviews are designed to assess your programming skills, problem-solving approach, and ability to adapt to real-world challenges. Each session is about an hour long and can either be scheduled back-to-back with a short break or split across multiple days, depending on what works best for you.

You’ll tackle progressively complex problems, covering topics like algorithms, data structures, system design, and practical business scenarios. These exercises help us understand how you think through solutions, your comfort with coding tools, and how you adapt as challenges evolve.

We’re looking for candidates who communicate clearly, showcase strong technical expertise, and thoughtfully balance design trade-offs while integrating feedback.

Other things

We value potential as much as experience

At CollegeVine, we’ve seen that exceptional talent comes in many forms, and a promising future can be just as valued as a proven past.

Feedback

Although we will always acknowledge your application, we do not provide feedback on resumes and interviews.

Visas

CollegeVine sponsors visas! We aren't able to sponsor them for every role and every candidate. But if we make you an offer, we will retain an immigration lawyer to help with your process.

Green cards

Once you’re eligible, we also help sponsor green cards.

Remote interviewing

All our interviews are conducted over Zoom. We track to US Eastern Time regardless of location, but we can be flexible if that’s difficult for you.

Re-applying

If interviews don’t work out this time, you’re welcome to re-apply after 12 months, and earlier if something materially changes about your experience or skills.

Internships

At this time, due to our size and remote nature, we do not offer internships. Instead, we encourage college students to seek onsite internships as we believe they are most conducive to developing professional and life skills.

Analyst program

CollegeVine offers an onramp to the company for early-career professionals (1-5 years of experience) who are driven, humble, and eager to make an impact at a fast-growing B2B startup. We will consider you regardless of your background and evaluate you for potential, so we’ll conduct a general interview, and then match you to a team across GTM, Operations, or R&D (Product, Engineering, Design) that aligns with your skills and goals. This is a great way to make an early career switch or get a foot in the door at a flagship tech startup to launch your career in tech.
